The client wanted a dramatic effect with a photographic feel to it. The client was – and still is, a huge fan of the original James Bond so as a tribute to one of the greatest movie stars ever, I painted a high-contrast image of Sean Connery. The source image was selected for its emotion and intensity, which helped deliver the desired outcome.
With regards to execution, the brief from the client was simple – deliver an image with the “wow” effect! Well, what’s more “wow” than a photo-realistic painting on a 5 metre high and 7 metre wide wall? I chose to use the same method I employed for the Riihimäki mural, where the image appears as a photographic illusion from afar, but on closer inspection is made of many different smaller points.
The client was extremely happy with the outcome, and has invited many of his own clients, partners and colleagues to see the finished piece with their own eyes.
